Mixed by Clive Nolan & Karl Groom this is the 1996 neo-Prog debut from a UK based band led by two fine French musicians: Pat Sanders and Manu Sibona!

Originally named DRAMA, DRIFTING SUN were formed in 1994 after French natives Pat Sanders (keyboards) and Manu Sibona (bass) left their home country and landed in the UK. There they met with American singer Rafe Pomeroy and four pieces were recorded in a London-based studio and sent to Musea Records in France for evaluation while Pat was touring in Canada with another band.

The demo received a positive response from Muséa and the French label decided to sign the band to their parent Hard Rock label Brennus and led to the making of DRIFTING SUNS’s eponymous debut CD.
Released in December 1996 to positive reviews from across the globe, the album was mixed by Clive Nolan & Karl Groom with Groom participating on one track.

A solid collection of nine medium length tracks ‘Drifting Sun’ is a fine debut album that features driving Prog tracks with dynamic and memorable melodies that include generous helpings of dreamy textures, symphonic breaks, skilful piano playing and soaring synth solos from the obviously talented fingers of keyboardist Pat Sanders. The high-register guitar playing of Rob Thompson also impresses, with the bass and drums providing a solid backbone to each and every track. Most of the songs are memorable and on the catchy side with influences that touch on the traditional neo-progressive side of the Prog genre.
